Aon has unveiled a new artificial intelligence platform designed to help insurers and reinsurance brokers analyze complex contract language more efficiently, as the industry faces growing pressure to evaluate coverage exposures following increasingly frequent catastrophic, cyber and geopolitical events.
The professional services firm announced the launch of Contract AI, a technology solution that uses artificial intelligence to examine exclusions and coverage provisions across reinsurance agreements. The platform is intended to provide insurers with faster insights into how evolving market conditions and contract structures could affect risk transfer arrangements and renewal negotiations.
Traditionally, reviewing the implications of major events across the reinsurance market has required extensive manual analysis of policy wording, endorsements, exclusions and broker communications. According to Aon, these reviews often take days or even weeks to complete, particularly when market participants need to assess large volumes of contracts following a significant loss event.
Contract AI seeks to streamline that process by analyzing Aon’s U.S. and Canadian contract databases in real time. The platform examines coverage trends, exclusions and contractual limitations, allowing brokers to generate market-wide insights and identify emerging developments more rapidly. By aggregating data across multiple sources, the system is designed to support strategic decision-making and improve the speed at which insurers can evaluate potential coverage implications.
The tool covers 15 different reinsurance business lines, including property, casualty, E&S and life reinsurance. Aon said the technology can be deployed both after major events—such as natural disasters, cyberattacks, geopolitical disruptions or supply-chain shocks—and during routine renewal discussions to help insurers better understand changes in market conditions and coverage structures.
“We need to ensure that our clients have robust coverage with no gaps or surprises to fulfill claims commitments to their customers and create sustainable portfolios,” said Randy Stanton, President, U.S. Reinsurance Business Performance at Aon. “Contract AI enables our reinsurance brokers to quickly analyze market developments at scale, identify emerging coverage considerations and provide clients with timely, relevant advice to meet strategic goals.”
The platform was developed by Aon’s Risk Capital Product Team and combines large-scale data aggregation, natural language processing and advanced search capabilities. The company said these technologies allow brokers to rapidly synthesize information and deliver actionable insights to clients navigating increasingly complex risk environments.
Marc Boone, global head of product strategy for Reinsurance at Aon, said the solution strengthens the firm’s efforts to modernize reinsurance analytics and improve resilience across the sector. He noted that AI-driven capabilities will play an increasingly important role as insurers confront more dynamic and interconnected risks.
The launch also aligns with Aon’s broader technology strategy. The company highlighted its previously announced commitment to invest $1 billion in data, analytics and AI-driven capabilities aimed at helping clients make more informed decisions across risk and human capital challenges.
As insurers grapple with increasingly sophisticated exposures and tighter timelines for evaluating coverage, Aon’s latest platform reflects the growing role of artificial intelligence in transforming how reinsurance contracts are reviewed, negotiated and managed.
