Aon is introducing a new digital trading platform aimed at reshaping how insurance brokers connect risk with capital, signaling a broader shift toward data-driven placement strategies in the commercial insurance market.
The global professional services firm announced plans to launch the Aon Digital Placement Exchange (Aon DPX), a technology platform designed to streamline the placement of Follow Line business within the London insurance market. The system is intended to improve how insurers express underwriting appetite and participate in risk syndication, replacing many of the manual processes that have traditionally characterized the market.
The platform will use structured data and algorithmic trading capabilities to create more efficient connections between insurers seeking risk opportunities and brokers arranging coverage. By digitizing key stages of the placement process, Aon aims to improve consistency, reduce operational friction, and provide clients with greater visibility into market capacity.
Aon plans to begin live operations for U.S. property risks during the second half of 2026. More than a dozen major insurers are expected to participate when the platform launches, reflecting growing industry interest in digital trading solutions.
Joe Peiser, CEO of Risk Capital at Aon, highlighted the limitations of conventional placement methods, arguing that existing processes have struggled to keep pace with the increasing scale and complexity of modern risks. He said the new platform is intended to create a more transparent and data-centric environment for connecting insurers and clients.
The initiative represents part of a broader effort to modernize Follow Line placements, which historically have relied heavily on repetitive interactions between brokers and underwriters. Through Aon DPX, insurers will be able to define and deploy underwriting strategies digitally while maintaining control over how their risk appetite is presented and executed in the market.
Aon emphasized that participating carriers will retain authority over underwriting decisions. The platform is designed to support—not replace—insurer judgment by providing configurable tools that allow companies to communicate their preferences more efficiently and respond to changing market conditions.
The company also expects Aon DPX to integrate with Aon Broker Copilot, its placement, analytics and broking technology ecosystem. The integration is intended to embed digital trading directly into broker workflows while enhancing access to market capacity and execution consistency.
The launch forms part of Aon’s wider investment in analytics and technology. The firm noted that it has committed approximately $1 billion to data, digital capabilities, and risk intelligence tools designed to improve decision-making across the insurance lifecycle.
As insurers and brokers face increasingly complex exposures and growing demand for efficiency, Aon’s latest initiative reflects the industry’s broader move toward technology-enabled trading models that seek to improve speed, transparency and access to capital in global insurance markets.
